Shana Black is a meanie

Day 38 …

Voicemail-converted-to-text

The first time I received a voicemail-text-converted message, I was so confused. I was wondering why my friend had all of a sudden become such a fob and decided to add in random question marks sandwiched by brackets. It didn’t make any sense. Eventually I came to realize that it was a feature that my phone was doing now and I guess I thought it was kind of cool.  The bracketed question marks definitely throw me off and a lot of the time, the message gets lost in translation — literally. So imagine my surprise–and shock–when I finished reading this one from H&R Block telling me they were at a new location. I was reading it and I was kind of confused, as I’m sure you can understand why.

First of all, my name is not Simon. Second of all, yes, I have been a little laid back in terms of my work load but that does not give you the right to call me lazy. (How do you even know this?) And third of all … HOW RUDE! I would never call my worst enemy the “C” word, that’s just mean! And lastly, after all this, you have the audacity to think I’ll do further business with you? Psh. Get the funk outta here, foo!

But … I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, whether they deserve it or not. So I took the time to listen to my voicemail. Poor lady, she had a pretty heavy Chinese accent and she was stammering on her words a little bit so that obviously didn’t help the situation. If you read back and do it in a Chinese accent, “It’s Shana Black” = H&R Block. Also, turns out she actually said:

“So whenever you are ready, you can either walk in or you can call us to make an appointment …”

I have no idea where the cruel words came from. Anyway, I thought this was pretty damn gold and I had to share it with you all. By the way, I apologize for completely slacking on my blog game. I’m so far behind and I fully intend on catching up although I’m sure they will mainly be photos without a hefty story to back it up. I got really sick last week and the week before and now I’m hobbling around like a penguin because of my new stitches and slashes to my shins. Awesome story. It’ll be for yesterday, which I will conjure up quite soon. Until then, happy Tuesday! I’m debating whether or not I want to watch the River tonight … I don’t do too well with scary stuff. Like your face. Okay bye.

Day 26 …

I love meetings where you can eat instead of sip on coffee that you don’t normally drink, which is why I love meeting with my business partner! We both love food and we both love what we’re building so why not combine the two?

I’m sure most of you have been to Bubble Tea places but I like Bubble World because of some dishes they have. I usually order the fish cakes, wonton in chili, deep fried chicken nuggets and hot honey milk tea with pearls — accompanied by sriracha of course ;)

Tonight was another great meeting. Despite being sick with the flu, we were able to conduct another productive meeting to provide a better direction and vision of where we want to go. I know I sound extremely vague and cryptic right now but when the time is it, you all shall see and I will be more than excited to share it with you.

Other useless things that happened throughout the day? Let’s see … Well, I’m still having a lot of back problems and shoulder problems. I have some pretty awesome coworkers who have strong hands and are trying to help me work out some knots and kinks that are really bothering me. I really have go see a chiropractor, I’m pretty sure my back is not properly aligned. Doesn’t help that I stand all day for work. Anyway, time for bed. Got lots happening this weekend, as per usual. Sleep tight!

Best boyfriend ever.

Day 25 …

Woke up feeling like I was run over by a semi. Funny ’cause I fell asleep watching Live Free or Die Hard (the last one) and the last scene I saw was when Bruce Willis was destroying New York City highways in the huge semi. Anyway, the worst part about this flu is the body aches. Sporadic pains throbbing all over my body, I could hardly walk. I had to cancel my doctor’s appointment, couldn’t make it to school and had to call in sick for work. Wahhh. The last time I had the flu was at least 3-4 years ago.

Needless to say, I was stuck in bed and feeling pretty useless with myself. Luckily for me, I happen to have the best boyfriend in all of the world and she goes by the name of Michelle. Today was her day off and she had offered to bring me meds so I could feel better. Before she got here, all I said was, Boyfriend …” And without hesitation, she asked if I would like her to bring me lunch. Sigh. She knows me all too well. So despite being a mess, she came over and we had lunch together while we watched Ellen. She even brought me Orange Crush! My fave! Seriously, with friends like these, who needs a boyfriend. I actually feel loads better. I don’t know if it’s the Neo-Citran, the sushi or the TLC from the BF.

Everyone, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, family … take note. Cherish the people in your life who make in effort to be there. The ones who truly care about your well being will never ask for anything in return but know that you would do the same for them. Life is about loving and about being loved. It truly is the greatest joy in life. Okay, Phil says my meds might be making me hella emo today and he may be right but I still mean what I said.

Love you, Mish <3
